First Assistant Superintendent
Requirements
• Previous experience as an assistant or second assistant necessary
• Ability to obtain Alabama pesticide license
• Great communication skills
• Spanish speaking a plus
• 3+ years experience
• 2 or 4 year degree in Agronomy/ Turfgrass Management
Details
• $38k - $40k
• 27 hole, 840 acre planned community that sits adjacent to the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge, the Bon Secour Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico.
• Large landscape component that encompasses two clubhouses, public and private entrances, and common areas within the development.
• Toro Lynx irrigation control system
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinates with Superintendent and supervises staff members as needed
• Performs routine maintenance tasks as needed
• Ensures proper calibration and safe operation of all spraying/fertilizing equipment
• Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations
• Remains up-to-date in knowledge of chemicals/fertilizers that are being applied and general continuing education
• Maintains all records as required by regulating authorities
• Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations
• Responsible for ensuring the safety and direction of chemical/fertilizer handlers and/or helpers
• Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties. Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Daily Irrigation monitoring, scheduling, general maintenance and upkeep
• Harbors a team first mentality that builds a top flight golf & grounds maintenance team
• Understands customer service and meeting expectations for owners, guests, and members
• Performs other duties as needed
